Most mornings since the accident, Nate had woken up with pain in his unbroken shoulder because it hadnât taken kindly to him sleeping on it all night. But this morning was different. He was on his back, and Lydiaâs arm was splayed across his chest. His head was filled with the scent of her hair, which had fanned out over his arm, and he could feel her breathing where she was pressed against him.
For those reasons alone, nothing could hurt.
Well, except his balls. They were throbbing, and his morning wood was so hard he could probably cut a diamond with his cock. Nate would have thought that after last night, his body would remain sated for a while, but apparently not while the woman he couldnât get enough of was sleeping half on top of him.
He smiled into the cold morning cabin air. Sex with Lydia downstairs had been a dream. Sex twice more with Lydia upstairs had blown his mind. The fantasy heâd been carrying around about laying her down on the bed hadnât needed to come true because heâd discovered something betterâLydia on top of him and being able to watch her pleasure herself with his body.
Recalling that image was in no way calming the storm raging in his nuts, but Nate couldnât bring himself to wake her and ask for morning sex. She was so beautiful, so peaceful where she was. As much as he wanted her back on top of him, he wanted to keep holding her too. Cradling her. She had no idea how precious she was to him, and she deserved to be cherished and adored, not just fucked into oblivion, although he wasnât sorry to discover she liked that.
Sometime during the night, the monsters had come upstairs and fallen asleep on the foot of the bed as well. Nate liked that too. Currently the three most important beings in his life were all crowded into bed with him. He could get used to this, although he shouldnât. He tried to discourage the monsters from sleeping in the bed, but there was no door to close off the loft. As for the woman, Nate wasnât in the habit of sleeping with other people. Sex, yes. Sleepovers, no. He liked his private time kept private and, since he didnât do relationships, postsex sleeping together was more intimate than he was comfortable with.
Lydia was the exception. Lydia was always the exception. Only he couldnât get used to sleeping with her, in any sense of the phrase, because even if he could convince her to give them a shot, he was going to leave. Sheâd been right about that.
And now this perfect moment was ruined because he feared hurting her when that happened. Nate didnât entirely understand why sheâd changed her mind last night, and he didnât know how long this new attitude of hers would last. Heâd have to take every opportunity she provided to convince her they were perfect for each other, that against all odds, they could make this work.
